Royal Global University launches EV Skill Lab to power India’s green mobility workforce

The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) on Tuesday inaugurated a cutting-edge Electric Vehicle (EV) Laboratory Skill Development Centre, aiming to prepare students and professionals for the rapidly expanding electric mobility sector.
The lab was inaugurated by L. Lanuwabang, Director of the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) for Guwahati, Kohima, and Shillong, in the presence of RGU Vice Chancellor Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain, Registrar Prof. Diganta Munshi, Registrar Academics Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Singh, and faculty from both RGU and Assam Skill University’s Electrical Engineering Department.
“Skilling is no longer optional,” said Lanuwabang. “With India’s large youth population, we must focus on developing industry-ready skills. This Centre is a vital step in building a workforce equipped for the electric vehicle revolution.”
Prof. Buragohain thanked NIELIT for its support and reaffirmed the university’s dedication to aligning education with national priorities. “Alternative and renewable energy is not just a choice—it’s a necessity. This lab is a stride toward sustainable technology and future-ready education,” he said.
Vanita Agrawal, Head of Laboratory Services at RGU, highlighted the lab’s mission to offer hands-on training, workshops, and certification courses that bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry demands. The Centre will cater to students, researchers, and working professionals looking to specialize in EV technology.
Organized under RGU’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the initiative underscores the university’s growing role in fostering innovation, sustainability, and skill development in Northeast India’s education landscape.
