Assam Royal Global University (RGU) reinforced its commitment to supporting higher education and curbing brain drain from the Northeast by awarding scholarships to more than 500 newly admitted students across various programmes for the Academic Year 2025–26.

The Scholarship Award Letter Distribution Ceremony, held on Wednesday, recognised students under several categories, including Merit, Endowment, BPL, Community-based, Sports, and Scholarships for Wards of Military, Paramilitary, and Police Personnel from the region. Recipients received fee waivers of up to 100%, 50%, and 25%, based on academic performance, achievements, and community service.

In addition, 72 students were conferred the Semester Topper Scholarship for their outstanding results in the Even Semester Examination 2024–25. Each topper will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹3,000. Certificates of Merit were also presented to 15 students already holding prestigious scholarships.

The university further celebrated the achievements of 15 students who represented RGU at the 38th Inter-University National Youth Festival 2024–25, hosted by Amity University, Noida. These students, who emerged as winners at the national platform, were honoured with Certificates of Appreciation and will receive fee concessions as per university policy.

The event was attended by RGU Chancellor Dr. A.K. Pansari; Major General R.K. Jha, AVSM (Retd.), Director (Personnel), NEEPCO; Major General A.K. Sharma, GOC 51 Sub Area, Guwahati; Registrar (Administration) Prof. Diganta Munshi; Registrar (Academics) Prof. D.N. Singh; Deans, Heads of Departments, and faculty members.

In his address to the students, Major General R.K. Jha reflected on the value of perseverance:

“Failure is the reason for my success. Any successful man who says he has not failed is a liar. This is the story we carry from the battlefield.”

He urged students to cultivate three forms of understanding—individual, collective, and group—to foster an environment of adaptability and cooperation: “Developing this totality of understanding enables you to listen, adapt, and unite for a common cause. Only then can you put your mighty shoulders behind achieving true success.”

The ceremony stood as a celebration of academic excellence, talent, and resilience, while affirming RGU’s mission to create opportunities for the youth of the Northeast.
