RO files FIR against a voter in Mairang for violating secrecy of voting

The Returning Officer of Mairang constituency on Wednesday lodged a police complaint against a voter for violating the secrecy of voting.

In the FIR, the RO said, “…it had come to the notice of the undersigned that on the day of voting, that is, February 27, during the time of voting, one unknown voter belonging to polling station Pyndengumlong Donggate male had taken a video of the balloting unit in which he had blatantly disclose the vote he was in favour of and circulating it on social media.”

The RO said this is a gross violation under 49M of the Conduct of Election Rules 1961 and requested the officer in-charge of Mairang police station to take necessary action.
