    Ri-Bhoi District Police have arrested three persons in connection with the robbery at Umran Fuels/Petrol Pump in Niangbyrnai.

    “In connection with Umsning PS Case No. 12(06) 2024 U/S 309 (2) (6) BNS, 2023, regarding the robbery at Umran Fuels/Petrol Pump, Niangbyrnai, Ri-Bhoi District, four persons assaulted the manager and staff of the petrol pump in the early hours of August 25, 2024, and stole cash amounting to Rs 4,24,614 (Rupees Four Lakhs Twenty-Four Thousand Six Hundred Fourteen) along with three mobile phones,” district police chief Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said on Monday.

    He stated that on September 1, 2024, Ri-Bhoi District Police arrested three accused from Dimapur District, Nagaland. They have been identified as Bokavi Zhimomi (25 years), resident of Vetenary Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur, Nagaland; Pashen Lam (32 years), resident of Burma Camp, Urban Housing Block-II, Dimapur, Nagaland; and Rokonngulie Keppu (18 years), resident of Rail Bazar, House No. 12, Dimapur, Nagaland.

    During preliminary interrogation, they admitted their involvement in the case. The accused are being produced in District Court with prayer for five days of police remand.

    The fourth accused has been detained by Tuensang District Police, Nagaland, and a team from Ri-Bhoi District Police is on the way to bring him and he will be produced in court. The Bolero vehicle bearing registration number NL07-CB-0156, used by the gang in the robbery, has also been seized, he added.
