    In a major embarrassment to Revenue Minister Kyrmen Shylla, Umkiang police arrested his brother Bison Shylla and others for involvement in the “open secret” of illegal transportation of coals.

    According to police, on the intervening night of February 26 & 27, Umkiang Police East Jaintia Hills, detected twenty-four trucks, while illegally transporting coal towards Malidor area, in violation of NGT order.

    During enquiry, it transpired that the following persons viz., (1) Bison Shylla, (2) Tre Rymbai, (3) Dipsy Bareh, (4) Pyllun Ksoo, (5) Anthony Sumer, (6) Alal Uddin, (7) Abdul Satar, (8) Badral Hussain and others, were involved in the illegal transportation of coal from Jaintia Hills to Malidor in Assam.

    In 2018, the Directorate of Mineral Resources issued challans to transport 30300 metric tonnes of coal and 24200 metric tonnes to Bison Shylla and Tuifill Shadap during January after the assessment of the coal conducted by magistrate from East Jaintia Hills District on 19 January, 2018.
