    JOWAI: The Meghalaya SSA School Association, Central Body on Tuesday sought the immediate intervention of the State Government to resolve the problems faced by the 7822 in-service untrained (teachers teaching at elementary level) enrolled with NIOS for the 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education Programme deputed by the State Government.

    In a petition to the State Education Minister, the association informed that the first batch for the academic year 2013-15 comprised of 4385 teachers and the second batch for the academic year 2015-17 comprised of 3437 teachers.

    They further said that the 1st batch (2013-15) session have completed the course since Oct-Nov 2015 but till date NIOS failed to make necessary correction of the anomalies in the results of nearly 30% (approx) teachers.

    Also some teachers of 1″batch (2013-15) session who re-appeared in the failed subjects in April-May 2018, Oct-Nov, 2018 and April-May, 2019 Exams and had successfully completed the course is yet to received their original Mark sheet and Certificate from NIOS even after a period of more than a year.

    According to the petition, the same problems and errors were also committed by NIOS for 2 batches (2015-17) session and informed that the matters was discussed by the Association with him on 6th July 2018, and also with the Chief Minister on 24th July, 2018 were assurance has been given that the Government will take up the matters with the competent Authority of NIOS and MHRD, Govt. of India for early solutions.

    The Association said that but till date it evoked no response from the end of NIOS on the issue which has put the teachers in confusion, depression and fear of losing their job as the Govt. of India had made it dear that all untrained teachers must acquired D.ElL Ed training within a time frame of 31 March, 2019 failing which their service may be terminated.

    The Association’s meeting held on 8th November, 2019 has taken a decision to again request the State Government through you kindly to look in to the issue and take a final decision on it for the interest and betterment of the teacher, the petition added.
