  • Remove black films and sirens illegally fitted from vehicle or face penalty: Meghalaya Police

    The Meghalaya Police has appealed to all vehicle owners to immediately remove the black films on their windshields and siren illegally fitted on their vehicles or be penalized as per provision of law.

    According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police S Nongtnger, IPS, it has come to the observation of the district police that many vehicles are seen using black films thereby violating the direction of the Supreme Court of India passed vide WP (C) No. 265 of 2011.

    He reminded that the Supreme Court of India has prohibited using of black films of any percentage Visual Light Transmission (VLT) on the safety glasses, windscreens (front and rear) and side glasses.

    The Superintendent of Police said there have also been several complaints from public that some vehicles are illegally fitted with sirens.
