Ram Madhav hits back at Rahul Gandhi, calls ‘vote thief’ remark childish and insult to constitution

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Ram Madhav on Monday lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent “vote thief” remark, describing it as illogical, childish and an insult to the Election Commission and the Constitution.
Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Madhav said accusing the Election Commission of vote rigging without any credible evidence was “irresponsible.” He questioned Gandhi’s allegation that “vote-chori” happened in only one constituency in Karnataka. “If the Election Commission intended to indulge in vote-chori, it would have done it across Karnataka and BJP would have won the state. But he says it happened only where the BJP won. How illogical, how childish this sounds is very clear,” Madhav remarked.
The BJP leader further said that by targeting the Election Commission, Gandhi was undermining constitutional institutions. “By calling the Election Commission names and accusing it of vote-chori, Rahul Gandhi is insulting the Constitution and indulging in activities against its spirit. The matter is already before the Supreme Court, and both the Election Commission and the apex court are seized of the issue. Yet he continues to propagate this narrative,” Madhav said.

He also pointed to Congress’s electoral decline in Odisha, where its vote share has shrunk to about 10–12 per cent over the past 15 years. “Instead of realising that people are rejecting Congress because of its faulty policies, he blames others for robbing him of victory. This ‘vote-chori’ argument is not only defeatist but also very childish,” Madhav added.
