Rain alert: East Jaintia Hills schools and colleges closed on June 18

All schools, colleges, and educational institutions in East Jaintia Hills District will remain closed on June 18, 2025, due to inclement weather.

According to an order issued by Deputy Commissioner S. Awasthi, who is also the Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the closure follows a weather warning and impact-based forecast from the Indian Meteorological Department, which indicates “Heavy to Very Heavy with Extremely Heavy Rainfall is occurring at different places over East Jaintia Hills District, thereby affecting Schools, Colleges and Educational Institution in the District.”
