Railway security tightened near Bangladesh border through joint patrols by RPF, GRP, and BSF

In a concerted push to bolster border security and protect critical railway infrastructure, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), in coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Border Security Force (BSF), has launched a series of joint patrolling operations in sensitive regions near the India-Bangladesh border.
The coordinated efforts aim to enhance surveillance, deter unlawful activities, and ensure the safety of both railway assets and passengers, especially in border-adjacent railway corridors under the NFR jurisdiction.
At Badarpur railway station in the Lumding Division, security personnel conducted a comprehensive security sweep, inspecting platforms and surrounding areas to detect unauthorized presence or suspicious activities.
A joint motor trolley inspection was carried out on the Silchar–Katakhal section, also in the Lumding Division. Teams from RPF, GRP, and BSF examined tracks, signal systems, and railway infrastructure to identify signs of tampering, intrusion, or potential sabotage.
In the Alipurduar Division, joint foot patrolling was executed between New Maynaguri and New Domohani stations. The patrol focused on preventing illegal crossings and detecting suspicious movements near the tracks.
The Katihar Division saw similar foot patrolling activity from Haldibari Zero Point to Haldibari railway station, an area especially sensitive due to its proximity to the international border. Teams maintained round-the-clock vigilance to secure the area.
These joint patrols reflect an increasing emphasis on inter-agency coordination, as RPF, GRP, and BSF work together to secure vulnerable sections of the railway network. The operations not only reassure passengers and railway staff but also serve as a visible deterrent to cross-border and anti-national activities.
A senior NFR official stated that such collaborative measures will continue to be expanded in frequency and scope. “Our focus remains on ensuring security, maintaining readiness, and building public confidence in the railway system, especially in strategically sensitive zones,” the official added.
