R Monarch Shabong re-elected as MEPA president, John W. Thabah as general secretary

The General Meeting of the Meghalaya Editors’ and Publishers’ Association (MEPA), held at Shillong Club on September 6, 2025, elected its new office bearers for the next three-year term.
R Monarch Shabong was re-elected as President, while John W. Thabah was re-elected as General Secretary.
The Vice Presidents elected at the meeting include Dr. Kamal K. Jhunjhunwala, Rajib Choudhuri, Markus M. Thaiang, Raphael Warjri, and Russel Nongrum.
The new Joint Secretaries are John Lyngdoh and Purbasha Bhattacharjee, while Kyrmen Uriah was re-elected as Organising Secretary and Deimebanda Blah as Treasurer.
Seven Executive Members were also elected. They are Justice Marweiñ, E. M. Jose, Apporlet Shabong, Starfing Pdahkasiej, Deimaia Siangshai, Sunday Sumer, Dominic Savio Diengdoh, and Banker Lapang.
The meeting also deliberated on several issues concerning media houses and journalists in the state.
The open session of the MEPA General Meeting was graced by Information and Public Relations Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, in the presence of Commissioner & Secretary (IPR) Vijay Kumar Mantri and Director of Information and Public Relations Batlang Sohliya.
