    In partial modification of the Order, No. SWK/COVID-19/T.1/2020/62, dt. 4.05.2020 and in compliance with the Government order No.POL.75/2020/PT1/29, dt. 9.05.2020 issued by the Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, in the Political Department. The undersigned in consultation with the District Transport Officer, Mawkyrwat hereby permits the plying of 50% of public transportation within South West Khasi Hills District for Maxi Cabs, Tourist Taxis & Local Taxis w. e. f  11th  May, 2020  till further orders:-

    The following are the guidelines under which the public transportation vehicles will be permitted.

    Passes or ‘PUBLIC TRANSPORT PERMIT’  for fixed number of vehicles will be issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat to vehicles which will ply on the road. These car passes will be issued to the respective Associations and the Associations are directed to utilize the pass on a rotation basis amongst themselves.

    All Taxis/Maxi Cabs/Tourist Taxis owners are directed to get in touch with the irrespective Associations to avail of car passes. Any public vehicle plying without car pass is liable to be penalized as per section of law.

    All taxis are directed to maintain social distancing inside when seating passengers. The seating capacity will be as follows:-
    a) Maruti 800/Alto/Any other hatchback car: Driver + 3 passengers.
    b) For Sumo/ Maxi Cab: Driver + 5 passengers.

    Driver of these taxis are to charge fares as approved by the DTO. No driver should over charge the passengers and in case of violation necessary action will be taken. The approved rate of the DTO must be clearly pasted in the vehicle .

    All drivers must wear masks and they are also to permit only passengers wearing masks inside the vehicles. Cleaning and hygiene of the vehicle is also to be maintained.

    The pass issued is valid only within the District. Drivers are not to misuse the Car Pass. The associations are to strictly comply  with the directions and also to report to the undersigned if they are issues and problems which may arise.
