    The Indian Institute of Management, Shillong on Tuesday held a press conference to discuss the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, ahead of its third anniversary. Representatives from NIT Meghalaya and North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) also participated in the briefing, along with the Director of Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (RDSDE) attending virtually.

    During the conference, it was announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate the second Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam on July 29 at ITPO, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

    The event, organized by the Ministries of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be launching various initiatives on the occasion. The Samagam will provide a platform for experts of schools, higher educational institutions, and skilling institutions to discuss, deliberate and share insights, strategies, success stories and best practices in implementing the NEP 2020.

    Secretary to the Board IIM Shillong, Prof. Rohit Joshi, Prof. Basav Roychoudhury and Sanjeev Ningombam, Coordinator CEDNER & Dr APJ Kalam Centre elaborated on the initiatives taken by IIM Shillong aligned with the NEP such as interdisciplinary research and education, a flexible curriculum, community immersion for critical thinking, online programs, regional research and innovation, inclusive education with financial assistance, and professional development for faculty. The institute also fosters industry-academia collaboration.

    The Samagam will consist of sixteen sessions covering various topics related to education and skill development, with around 3000 participants attending, including government officials, education leaders, and representatives from academia and industry.

    The event will also feature a multimedia exhibition showcasing initiatives in education and skill development, with over 2 lakh attendees expected.
