    The state police on Saturday arrested the prime accused who allegedly murdered a 16-year-old school girl in East Jaintia Hills district.

    The body of the girl was spotted by labourers loading coal in a forest at 2 Kilo under Sutnga Elaka.  

    Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) GK Iangrai in a statement informed that after the case was transferred to Crime Branch police station, East Khasi Hills, the investigation of the case is being conducted by officers of the Crime Branch police station, who are being assisted by the Crime Scene Unit and East Jaintia Hills Police.

    “In the past few days, the team has been conducting thorough investigation which has culminated in the arrest of one person who is the prime accused of this case,” he said.

    The AIGP further informed that the investigating team is conducting further investigation to ascertain the facts and circumstances of the case and to establish whether any other persons are also involved in this case.
