Prestone Tynsong meets Pope Leo XIV, seeks blessings for Meghalaya

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, met with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV in Vatican at a Private Audience on Wednesday. Tynsong was the first from Meghalaya to have met His Holiness, just within three months after the Sovereign Pontiff’s election as the Head of the Catholic Church and the Vatican City.
Prestone sought the apostolic blessings of the Vicar of Christ on the State of Meghalaya. Meghalaya is indeed blessed with the presence of its Leader, who has the privilege of meeting the Pope personally.
During this heart-to-heart personal discussion, the Pope conferred his apostolic blessings on Prestone and the State as a whole. He conveyed his special greetings to the people of Meghalaya. He offered encouragement and reaffirming the importance of fostering peace and unity in the State.
The meeting took place during discussions about the state of affairs of Meghalaya, wherein the Deputy Chief Minister humbly sought the Pope’s blessing on the state of Meghalaya. His holiness appreciated the dauntless efforts of the political and religious leaders of Meghalaya in their relentless efforts in curbing problems that have surreptitiously within the State.
Pope Leo XIV has been actively involved in various events, including the Jubilee of Families and a meeting with Eastern Catholics, where he emphasized the importance of peace and unity. He also recently addressed the FAO Director-General, highlighting the need for global cooperation to address hunger and food security.
