    The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Ri Bhoi District issued a press release stating, “The water level at Umiam Dam is 3209.68 feet as on 13/08/2024. The water from Umiam Dam will have to be released anytime in case there is heavy rainfall in the coming days.”

    He further advised, “People staying in the downstream of Umiam Dam are requested to be extra cautious and are advised not to venture into rivers or streams to avoid any unfortunate incidents and to stay away from streams, drains, culverts, etc.”

    “In case of flood, people should stay away from electric poles or power lines to avoid electrocution,” he added.
