Poster, first song of Assamese film ‘Jaubane Amoni Kore-2’ unveiled; release on Oct 10

The poster and first song of the much-anticipated Assamese film Jaubane Amoni Kore-2 were released at a lively event at Rudra Barua Auditorium, Jyoti Chitrabon Studio, on Sunday.
The film’s first track, Rohedoi Rosoki, written and composed by Palash Surya Gogoi, one of the film’s music directors, was performed by singers Dikshu Sarma and Chayanika Bhuyan. Their spirited rendition delighted the audience, heightening expectations for the sequel.
Produced by Ashok Kumar Bishaya and Happy Moni Bishaya under the banner of Lakshmi Narayan Films, Jaubane Amoni Kore-2 will hit theatres across Assam on October 10. Ashok Kumar Bishaya once again directs the film, with Barsha Rani Bishaya as associate director. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Pranab Baruah and Barsha Rani Bishaya.
The original Jaubane Amoni Kore, released in 1998, was a landmark in Assamese cinema. At a time when the industry was struggling, it revived audience interest and introduced a refreshing blend of youth culture, popular music and commercial storytelling. Featuring a cast of mostly newcomers, the film struck a chord with audiences and went on to achieve both critical acclaim and cult status. A special event marking its 25th anniversary was organised at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra two years ago.
Nearly three decades later, the sequel aims to rekindle the same magic while appealing to a new generation of viewers. Director Bishaya faces the challenge of balancing nostalgia with fresh perspectives and contemporary themes.
The cast of the sequel includes original stars such as Pranjal Saikia, Nikumoni Baruah, Barsha Rani Bishaya, Ankkur Bishhaya, Barnale Poojari, Enu Boruah, Niloy Gupta, Niren Sarma, Ashim Baishya and Uday Shankar. They are joined by new faces, including Abatosh Bhuyan, Purnada Hazarika, Bhargav Gogoi, Rinayra, Puja Deka, Sudipta Goswami, Pratyush Plaban, Neelim Kanchan Chetia, Evan Saikia, Rakibul Ahmed, Rhea Bora, Shiksa Das and Mimangshi Barooah.
Edited by Ankkur Bishhaya, the film’s cinematography is handled by Vali, Kulanandini Mahanta and Gyan Gautam. The music is composed by the late Kshiroda Kanta Bishaya, Palash Surya Gogoi, Manas Barthakur and Madhusmita Barthakur, while Bhaskar Boruah serves as executive producer.
