    The Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat in a press release issued today has informed that yesterday, the 24th August 2023, a public hearing was held at the premises of Meghalaya Cements Limited,Thangskai during which a milieu ensued between the police party and the protesting mob, and a video of the same has surfaced on Youtube, of Batesi Tv, where some persons were seen shouting provocative and incendiary slogans.

    In this connection, case No. 46(08)2023 U/s 153B/503/504/506 IPC has been registered at Lumshnong Police Station and investigation is underway. 91 CrPC notice is being issued to the concerned Media Outlet to procure and analyze the video as mandated under Evidence Act.

    Meghalaya Police is committed to maintain communal harmony and any indiscretion in this regard will be dealt as per law, added the Superintendent of Police.
