PM Modi to inaugurate state-of-the-art healthcare services at AIIMS Guwahati tomorrow

In a significant milestone towards enhancing healthcare accessibility and excellence in Northeast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate several cutting-edge medical services at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati on Tuesday.

The event will be graced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, AIIMS Guwahati executive director Prof Ashok Puranik and faculty, officers and staff of AIIMS Guwahati.

The services to be inaugurated include drone services for rapid delivery of essential medical supplies, a modern auditorium, a radiotherapy block equipped with a High Energy Linear Accelerator, HDR Brachytherapy unit, and a 4D-CT Simulator, all of which promise to revolutionize cancer care in the region. Equipped with these equipment, AIIMS Guwahati will be able to cater more patients seeking cutting-edge care.

The Institute will also be able to develop more health-oriented research and courses to train future radiation oncologists and medical physicists while contributing to advancements in cancer treatment protocols.

PM Mpdi will also inaugurate advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities such as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit with a 3T scanner, a state-of-the-art Biplane Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) Cath Lab for advanced cardiac and neurovascular interventions, a Dexa Scan for bone health assessment, and a well-equipped Night Shelter designed to accommodate patients’ families, offering comfort and support to those traveling from distant areas. Prof. Ashok Puranik – Executive Director, AIIMS Guwahati, expressed happiness about these services and said “these initiatives underscore AIIMS Guwahati’s commitment in delivering high-quality, accessible healthcare services to the people of the Northeast”.

The new infrastructure promises to enhance patient care, reduce travel time for critical treatments, and significantly strengthen the region’s healthcare capabilities. With the inauguration of these essential facilities, AIIMS Guwahati will be set to become a leading healthcare destination, serving the population with compassion and cutting-edge technology
