The District Magistrate,West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai in an order issued under
Section 144 Cr.PC has prohibited Plying of heavy vehicles along the damaged bridge on Laskein- Barato road.

The prohibition has been imposed to regulate and stop plying of heavy vehicles on the said bridge as pying of heavy vehicles will cause the  entire super structure of the bridge to fully collapse and also long term closure of road which would invite public outcry as the said road is an important link road from Barato side to Laskein Block and other villages.

The order has been issued on the complaints recieved from the Executive Engineer, PWD(Roads) North Division Jowai that the heavy vehicles are still plying through damaged bridge on Laskein – Barato road in spite of cautionary signs erected at site and also through order published in the Newspapers.

This order comes into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders.
