    A Plantation Drive was organised on March 21 at IIM Shillong to mark the International Day of Forests 2025, in collaboration with the Forests & Environment Department, Meghalaya. The event was held under the theme “Forest and Food,” highlighting the need for sustainable practices to balance development with environmental conservation.

    RS Gill, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force, Meghalaya, who attended as Chief Guest, spoke about the critical role forests play in ecological balance and food security. He stressed the importance of preserving traditional knowledge, promoting widespread plantation drives, and adopting eco-friendly practices for a greener future.

    Prof. DP Goyal, Director of IIM Shillong, appreciated the initiative and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to continued collaboration in environmental efforts.

    The event was also attended by D Sathiyan, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Social Forestry & Environment), and Heisa Lato, Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry Division, who underlined the need for joint strategies in achieving sustainable forest management.
