  • PHE quarter in Jowai declared containment area

    District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District, Garod LSN Dykes has declared PHE quarter located at Khimmusniang, Jowai adjacent to PHE office Rural Water Supply Division, Jowai as containment area after the detection COVID-19 positive cases.

    “There has been recent high risk and low risk contact with the COVID-19 positive cases,  vulnerable and affected areas require aggressive contact tracing, quarantine testing and isolation as wel as containment in the interest of health of the general public against any possible spread of COVID-19,” the order said.

    The order restrict unregulated entry and exit movement on the site with the following measures for due compliance by public from midnight 14 September until further orders.

    The order prohibits people from entering the containment area and all inhabitants within the containment area shall not move out.

    No gatherings, events, functions, social gatherings will be allowed.

    All the shopping establishment of whatsoever nature shall be closed immediately and medical requirements for purchase will be ensured through various teams formed by the District Administration.

    All Government & Private Institutions located within the boundary of the Containment area are to closed forthwith, till further Orders.

    According to the order the Assistant Sector Magistrate. Urban, Jowai will be the Supervising Officer of the declared as Containment area.

    The Order will not apply to Health Workers and Essential Workers of Jowai Municipal Board, Press including Electronic & Print Media, Petrol Pumps and LPG delivery workforce.

    Any violation of this Order will entail prosecution under the penal provision of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and IPC.
