    JOWAI: The Meghalaya Athletic Association will make their maiden entry in the national athletic level by competing in the ensuing 59th National Open Senior Athletic Championship.

    The championship will be held in Ranchi, Jharkhand from 10 to 14 October 2019.

    According to the association, Dising Phawa will run for glory in the 3000 steeple chase as he is gold medal winner in the 1500 mts U-20  and he is from East Jaiñtia Hills District.

    Batsrang Sangma for the 5000 mts a promising long distance runner who won many half marathon he is from Tura. The team will be led by manager cum coach Babira Momin of sports department.

    “This is a start of promoting and expose them at the top competition as a preparation for the national game’s 2020,” said Finely Pariat Secretary Meghalaya Athletic Association.
