Pharmacy given two weeks time to install CCTV in East Khasi Hills District

The District Magistrate East Khasi Hills District has directed all the Medical/ Pharmacy shops in the District selling schedule ‘H’, ‘H1’ and ‘X’ under relevant provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act to install CCTV Camera inside their shops within two weeks.
The direction is issued as per order issued under section 133 Criminal Procedure Code Dated 17.11.2023.
The District Magistrate informed that thevNational Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has prepared and released a Joint Action Plan on “Prevention of Drugs and Substance Abuse among Children and Illicit Trafficking.
The order asserted, “it is imperative to issue necessary direction to the Medical Shops selling scheduled H, H1 and X drugs for monitoring their sale.”
The District Magistrate informed that time period of two weeks is provided to all the Medical/ Pharmacy shop owners for installation of CCTV Camera Footage and such cameras can be randomly checked by the Competent Authorities of East Khasi Hills District at any time.
Failure to comply with direction by any Medical/ Pharmacy Shop Owner will result in appropriate actions against him/her, the order said.
