The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District informs that it has been reported that Coke Plants and individuals have been installing weighbridges rampantly without following the procedures of the Legal Metrology Act 2009. Moreover, vendors who are not registered with the Legal Metrology State Government are installing weighbridges/ weighbridges components that are not in compliance to the standards of the Act.

In this connection, they are directed to obtain permission from the Office of the Legal Metrology Department before installing weighbridges and also for the existing weighbridges to comply with the provision of the Legal Metrology Act 2009 and Meghalaya Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules 2011.
