  • Pay new rate of transportation or face the music: transporters to cement factories

    Irked by the non payment of new rate of transportation by the Cement Factories, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising the Jaintia Hills Truck Owners’ and Driver Association (JHTOA) and the All Jaintia Cement and Clinker Transports Association (AJCCTA) issued an ultimatum till Wednesday to the cement factories to pay new rate or face agitation.

    The JAC Committee convened a meeting on Monday at Central Cafe, Jowai to discuss on the non implementation of new rate of transportation by the cement factories.

    The Government of Meghalaya on January 13, last announced that new rate of transportation for heavy and medium goods vehicles is Rs.9/- per MT per KM for Black Topped road, in gravelled road Rs.10/- per MT per KM and Rs.12/- per MT per KM for Kutcha Road.

    Nidamon Chulet, President of JHTOA informed that the Cement cos in Jaintia Hills have failed to implement the government orders. With the hike in combustion fuel, the JAC has demanded that the government should enforce strict implementation of the rate scheduled by cement companies operating in East Jaintia Hills.

    Chulet informed the JAC resolve that “the cement cos should comply with the govt order with in two days’ time or they stopped loading of all materials from cement company in Jaintia Hills.”

    Meanwhile the president JHTOA have also informed that JHTOA decide to hold another meeting on June 12 in connection with the transportation fare.
