Patriotic Assamese film ‘Swahid Pranamo Tumak’ to release on Sept 19

A new Assamese patriotic film, Swahid Pranamo Tumak, is set to release on September 19, a day before the martyrdom anniversary of Kanaklata Barua, the 17-year-old freedom fighter from Gohpur who laid down her life during the Quit India Movement in 1942 while carrying the national flag.
Written, scripted and directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Chandra Mudoi, the film draws inspiration from Kanaklata’s sacrifice. The story follows a teenage Assamese girl who, influenced by extremist ideas, takes up the path of violence along with her peers. Her perception changes when she learns about the courage and supreme sacrifice of Kanaklata Barua, which reshapes her understanding of freedom, sacrifice and national identity.
The film is produced under the banner of A M Television by Dr Sanjiv Narayan and Lokanath Deka, with Dr Hitesh Barua and Jamal Ahmed Rao as executive producers. Cinematography is by Nava Kumar Das, while editing has been done by Shyamal Das and Rituranjan Hatimuria. Music is composed by Dr Hitesh Barua, Ajay Phukan and Tapan Kakoti, with background score by Manish Das and Neelutpal.
Playback singers include Simanta Shekhar, Padmanav Bordoloi, Ajay Phukan, Pranjal Parash, Richie, Pranamika Goswami, Priyanka Bharali, Bandita Das, Madhuri Gogoi and Rishi. Lyrics are penned by Chandra Mudoi.
