  • Partition of vehicle’s body must for transportation of animals

    The District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District informs the general public that in pursuance to Rule 125 E of the amended Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 2015, all transporter or consigner of the livestock shall follow the code of practice laid down in accordance with the specification of the Bureau of Indian Standards regarding the transportation of the livestock.

    The Motor vehicle for carrying animals shall have permanent partitions in the body of the vehicle so that the animals are carried individually in each partition where size of the partition shall not be less than the following.

    As per the order, vehicles carrying cows and buffaloes should have a partition of 2 square metres, for horses and mares it should be 2.25 square metres, for sheep and goat space must be 0.3 square metres, for pigs it should be 0.6 square metres and for poultry space must be 40 square cm.

    No Motor vehicle meant for carrying animals shall be permitted to carry any other goods.

    This order comes into force with immediate effect.
