  • Pariat’s confession to arrest of two more trained HNLC cadres

    The Meghalaya Police arrested two HNLC cadres from East Khasi Hills District on the basis of lead provided by one of the four HNLC cadres previously arrested last month.

    According to police, the newly arrested cadres are KynsaijunThabah @ Kynsai-32 years of Umlyngka, Kynton Block-II, East Khasi Hills District and Sanborlang Rapsang- @ Sanbor aged 38 years of Mawlai, Umjajew, East Khasi Hills, District.

    Police informed that four cadres Cyfrank Paul Pariat, Kitbok Mujai, Barnabas Lyngdoh and Wanpynshngai Dympep previously arrested in June this year and were booked under Umiam PS case No. 46(06)2024 U/s 120B/506/384/511 IPC R/W Sec 10/13/17/18 UA(P) Act.

    During the interrogation of one of the four accused, Cyfrank Paul Pariat, revealed that he had undergone training at Bangladesh with one Kynsaijun Thabah for a period of one month in the month of mid July 2023 till mid August 2023 after which they returned to their respective homes.

    On the 5th July 2024, Kynsaijun Thabah was arrested and during his examination he confessed to being a member of the banned HNLC and that he had undergone training during the above said period together with Cyfrank N Pariat.

    Further he revealed the name of one co-accused Sanbor Rapsang who helped to arrange the logistics for his movement to Bangladesh last year.

    Sanbor Rapsang was arrested and investigation is underway to obtain more details from the accused person.
