Chief Secretary DP Wahlang on Tuesday informed that the committee constituted to make recommendations for reforming the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) will submit its report by the end of January.

Speaking to journalists, Wahlang said, “The committee has been constituted and they have already met and the report is expected to be submitted at the end of this month.”

“I have been informed that they have inducted and also coopted some important experts from outsde. They will be calling and inviting some members of the public also to have a stake in this and I am sure that the committee will deliberate and submit the report on time,” he added.

On the status of the expert committee on state reservation policy, the CS said, “They have visited the state and they have had meetings in Shillong, Jowai as well as Garo Hills and they had a meeting just about a week and last week also in Delhi where all the members were present to basically discuss the findings during the tour where they made across Meghalaya. I think they are in the process of writing the report now.”

He however added, “How long they will take to complete the report, I am not privy to that information right now. Yes, the meetings are over.

They have met all stakeholders, political parties, student leaders, NGOs, members of thepublic, across the state, Jowai, Shillong and Tura.”
