Congress chief Vincent H Pala has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the people of Khasi and Jaintia Hills for their support in the recently concluded Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections.

“Though the results may not be in our favor, I deeply appreciate the unwavering commitment and trust shown by our supporters and well-wishers,” Pala said in a statement.

The Congress has won only 3 seats in Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) and drew a blank in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).

“I would like to commend all our Congress candidates who contested the elections with great determination and resilience, despite numerous challenges, including betrayals and adversities. Your dedication to the principles of the Congress party and your tireless efforts in serving the people will always be valued and respected,” Pala said.

The Congress chief also added congratulate all the winning candidates, irrespective of party affiliations and said, “The people have placed their faith in you, and I sincerely hope you will work with integrity and a sense of responsibility to uphold the interests of the indigenous communities and protect the spirit of the Sixth Schedule.”

“The Congress Party remains committed to strengthening grassroots democracy, safeguarding the rights of our people, and ensuring that development reaches every corner of Meghalaya. We will continue to serve the people with renewed determination, learning from this experience and striving to rebuild and reconnect with the aspirations of the people,” he added.

Pala also assured the people of Meghalaya that the Congress Party will remain steadfast in its mission to serve with honesty, inclusivity, and dedication.
