Over 7,000 farmers trained in 63 villages across Meghalaya

On the 13th day of the ongoing Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) campaign, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across Meghalaya conducted extensive outreach programmes in 63 villages across 15 blocks, reaching 7,062 farmers on June 11.
The campaign aims to create a long-term impact by promoting advanced agricultural technologies and sustainable practices. Key focus areas included improved crop production, organic and natural farming, mushroom cultivation, livestock health and vaccination, soil testing, pest and disease management, and water-use efficiency.
Technical sessions covered topics such as high-yielding crop varieties, climate-resilient farming, smart agriculture tools, post-harvest management, vertical farming, hydroponics, animal nutrition, integrated farming systems, and agroforestry. Extension literature and demonstration materials were also distributed to enhance farmer awareness.
Farmers were informed about various Central and State government schemes, including PM-KISAN, KCC, PMFBY, Soil Health Card, PKVY, Apiculture Mission, Citrus Rejuvenation Scheme, and the State Organic Mission.

To support Kharif season preparedness, quality seeds of rice, millets, maize, French bean, bitter gourd, capsicum, coriander, cowpea, and arecanut saplings were distributed. The campaign continues to empower Meghalaya’s farming community with knowledge, inputs, and institutional support.
