Over 500 youth have submitted their nominations for the elections to the various posts of office bearers of the Indian Youth Congress in Meghalaya.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, election coordinator of the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) Banphira Basaiawmoit said, “In celebration of the largest democratic exercise among the youth of the nation, the Indian Youth Congress continues its commitment to a transparent and fair election process for the office bearers of the Youth Congress in Meghalaya.”

He informed that they have successfully completed the nomination process for the State President, General Secretary, and other state-level office bearers. Additionally, nominations for various district-level office bearers have also been initiated.

“We are pleased to announce that over 500 young individuals have submitted their nominations for various positions which concluded yesterday (Nov 25) through the Indian Youth Congress’s online registration system, via the “With IYC” app, available on both Android and iOS platforms,” Basaiawmoit said.

“We would like to express our gratitude to all the youth who have participated in this process. We also encourage more young people across the state to vote for the State President and other District Presidents using the same app. This is a valuable opportunity to actively engage in the democratic process and become part of this transformative movement,” he said while informing that the last date for voting is December 16, 2024.

“It is indeed a historic milestone to have received such a large number of nominations for state-level positions, marking a new chapter in the democratic engagement of Meghalaya’s youth,” Basaiawmoit stated.
