  • Over 155 houses damaged by cyclone in West Khasi Hills

    NONGSTOIN: Over 12 villages in West Khasi Hills District were hit by a devastating cyclonic storm on Monday morning.

     

    As many as 155 houses were severely damaged by the cyclonic storm, district officials said.

    Electric wires also got snapped even as several trees were uprooted during the incident, they said.

     

    The affected villages include Tiehsaw, Nongrangoi, Khliehmawlieh, Nongritong, Mawkawah, Pyndengrei, New Nongstoin, Siejlieh, Mawionglumsyntiew, Tiehsaw, Upper Newnongstoin, Nongdisong and Mawrusyiar.

     

    According to BDO of Nongstoin C&RD Block CP Mawkon, there has been no casualty reported during the incident. He informed that the gramsevak are still assessing the damage on the ground.
