Opportunity will be given to students, who have missed the CUET examination, because of the allocation of centres outside the state.

This was informed by the Joint Secretary in-charge Education department D Lyngdoh on Thursday.

“…the matter relating to CUET 2023 examination have been taken up with the Ministry of Education and the National Testing Agency, Government of India and the State Government hereby inform that opportunity will be given to those students who have missed the examinations because of the allocation of centres outside the State of Meghalaya as per the data submitted to NTA,” Lyngdoh said in a statement.

This came a day after the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had requested the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to direct the National Testing Agency (NTA) to make alternative arrangements for the students of Meghalaya.

The chief minister had informed in his letter to the union minister that the State Government has received numerous complaints from students of Meghalaya on the allocation of CUET centres outside the State of Meghalaya, such as Ranchi, Jharkhand, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Kolkata and other southern states of India which has left the students and their parents in disbelief and dismay and also has caused significant inconvenience and logistical challenges for the students, who were already preparing for the examination under the assumption that the centres would be allocated closer to their home.
