SHILLONG: Opposition chief whip and Mawlai legislator Process T Sawkmie today asked the state government to speed up the completion of the Tura and Shillong medical college and ensure that such projects do not become like the Crowborough hotel.

Expressing full support to the demand of the combined citizen bodies with regards to the medical college at Tura, Sawkmie in a statement issued on Monday said this is an important project and the demand is genuine.

He said the government should speed up for completion of setting up within a stipulated time or according to the time bound for set-up.

According to him, it is high time for the citizens of the state to come out and speak openly regarding the important projects of the State which will benefit the people. “The concerned people of the State does not want to see that the Medical College at Tura and Shillong to become like the Crowborough Building which is still not completed since its initiation in 1987,” Sawkmie stated.
