    In order to ensure safety to commuters from any untoward incidents, the East Jaintia Hills District Administration on Tuesday regulated the plying of one vehicle at a time through Sonapur Bridge under Lumshnong PS.

    It has been reported that overloaded trucks are still plying on the major bridge at KM 140 200 (Sonapur village) East Jaintia Hills District.

    The rehabilitation work of the said bridge and upgradation of existing road is underway.

    However the plying of overloaded vehicle might be dangerous and may attract untoward incident.

    In exercise of the powers conferred under section 144 CrPC, the District Administration ordered that overloaded vehicle will not ply on the said bridge.

    Vehicles having GVW upto 40 MT is allowed to pass through the said bridge and in no circumstances the vehicle having GVW more than 40 MT should cross the said bridge.

    Only one vehicle should cross at a time through the said bridge.

    The speed of vehicles should be limited upto to 10 to 20 Km/h while crossing the said bridge Vehicle should not stand / park on the said bridge.
