Only one vehicle at time permitted over Sonapur Bridge

Superseding all previous restriction on the movement of vehicles over the Sonapur Bridge under reinforcement, the Deputy Commissioner East Jaintia Hills District has allowed the plying of one vehicle at a time over the bridge.

The new order was necessiated to facilitate the smooth movement of convoy vehicles travelling on Election Duties to the state of Manipur and it will also be applicable to them.

The Sonapur Bridge is the one and only link between rest of Meghalaya to Umkiang, Ratacherra and other villages and also to Mizoram, parts of Assam & Manipur and Tripura.
