In a major step towards improving safety and emergency response, ONGC Assam Asset has bolstered its fleet with the induction of 65 new ambulances. The vehicles were officially flagged off on Thursday by ED-Asset Manager Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem at ONGC’s Logistics Department in Sivasagar.

The ceremony was attended by Chinmoy Prakash Phookan, Managing Director of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), along with senior officials from ONGC, ASTC, M/s Force Motors, and workforce representatives.

Speaking at the event, ED-Asset Manager Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem emphasized the critical importance of safety in ONGC’s operations. “Ensuring safety and security is integral to our mission of achieving excellence in oil and gas production. The introduction of these ambulances demonstrates our commitment to prioritizing the well-being of our employees and stakeholders,” he said, lauding the team for their meticulous planning and execution.

The newly introduced ambulances include 63 Basic Ambulances: Equipped with essential features such as foldable seats, swiveling fans, autoloader stretchers, and provisions for 2.2L oxygen cylinders. These ambulances will be deployed across ONGC Assam Asset’s operational sites, including drill locations, workover rigs, and production installations.

2 Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulances: Outfitted with critical life-saving equipment such as ventilators, defibrillators, suction pumps, and oxygen delivery systems. These ALS ambulances will be stationed at ONGC Hospital in Sivasagar and ONGC Nazira Dispensary for advanced emergency care.

The ambulances have been hired through ASTC for a period of five years, underscoring ONGC’s collaboration with local institutions to ensure sustainability and efficiency.

The initiative follows ONGC’s earlier allocation of 372 light motor vehicles to local youths through a lottery-based tendering process, a move that was widely appreciated by the local community. Managing Director of ASTC, Chinmoy Prakash Phookan, expressed gratitude for ONGC’s partnership, highlighting its role in fostering ASTC’s growth and sustainability.

“This collaboration is a testament to ONGC’s commitment to empower local institutions. We look forward to strengthening this valuable relationship further,” Phookan stated. He also assured ONGC of ASTC’s dedication to providing uninterrupted services.

Ashish Kumar Mishra, Manager (T)-I/c Logistics, highlighted the strategic deployment of the ambulances, ensuring that all critical operational sites are covered. The addition of advanced life-support ambulances further enhances ONGC’s capability to respond effectively to medical emergencies.
