One woman was injured while 44 houses were destroyed in Jirang Assembly Constituency, Ri Bhoi District due to a cyclonic storm on Sunday evening.

This is as per information collected from Dr Pabitra R Hajong the Block Development Officer of Jirang Community & Rural Development Block.

The woman who was injured due to the cyclonic storm was identified as Khuni Killing while the 44 houses destroyed in the storm are located in Umsalani, Umsaliang and Nongrim Jirang. Agricultural products were also destroyed due to the cyclonic storm.

Road connectivity to Umsaliang village was completely paralyzed due to uprooting of several trees.

Dr. Hajong urged the village authorities to collect details of damage caused by the cyclonic storm and to apprise him. He also instructed the affected households to shift to local schools for shelter and all necessary arrangements will be provided by the Government.

Meanwhile, a hail stones storm hit Nongpoh Town on Sunday and lasted for about five minutes.
