    Admitting the failure of the one way traffic system along Laitumkhrah-Dhankheti circular roads, S Nongtnger, IPS, Superintendent of Police East Khasi Hills on Tuesday announced the lifting of the one way traffic systems during morning time with immediate effect.

    According to press release, the SP informed following a two-day trial of the One Way’ arrangement around the Laitumkhrah Dhankheti circuit, it is seen that the traffic problem has been further compounded. He also said that the arrangement leading to further delays in commuting and the inconvenience caused is regretted.

    It may be informed to the general public that the vehicular traffic movement will be reverted to the two-way traffic movement.

    The one-way arrangement from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM stands lifted.

    Flipping the pages of history, the one way traffic arrangement along Laitumkhrah to Dhanketi Circular roads during school opening hours was first introduced by then Additional SP (traffic) Claudia Lyngwa in 2006 and the police department encountered several hiccups on the initial stages but with the passage of times the people adjusted with the new system.
