One Garo motorcycle rider killed, pillion critically injured in road mishap at Ialong near Jowai

In an incident of rash driving on June 29, 2015, one motorcycle rider was killed while the pillion rider sustained critical injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Jowai Civil Hospital in Ialong, West Jaintia Hills District after their motorcycle was dashed from the rear end by unidentified heavy vehicle.
Police said that on receipt of information about this incident in Ialong, NH-06, on the stretch of road approaching the Toll Gate from the Jowai side on the night of the said date, they rushed to the spot.
On reaching the spot, police said tone male individual with serious injuries sitting by the roadside, with some public attempting to assist him and he was rushed to Jowai Civil Hospital, Ialong for immediate medical treatment.
Police said that another male individual was discovered lying motionless at a distance of around 100 metres from the first. He had sustained severe head injuries, with significant bleeding, and blood splatter was observed on the road.

Police that a portion of a crashed Pulsar 200 motorcycle B/R No. AS01R-3732 was found lying partly over the body. He was immediately transported to Jowai Civil Hospital via the NHAI ambulance, where the Medical Officer declared him brought dead. Due to the time of night, the body was kept in the hospital morgue for further legal formalities.
Police said that some individuals approached the police and identified the deceased as Lt. Biomston Sangma of Dabongjora village, West Garo Hills District, and the injured person as Tengsrang Sangma of Trekila village, West Garo Hills District. The surviving individual, who remains in critical condition, was admitted for medical treatment.
Police suspected that the Pulsar 200 motorcycle bearing was hit on its rear end by an unidentified high speed heavy vehicle while the motorcycle rider and pillion rider intended to proceed to Phramer from Ialong. Both individuals were working as labourers at Phramer area.
Police said the pillion rider (injured person) appears to have been thrown to the roadside, while the rider was stuck with the motorcycle and based on the condition of the vehicle and drag marks on the road surface, it is believed that the heavy vehicle dragged the motorbike along with the rider for approximately 100 metres before veering off-road. The offending vehicle then fled from the spot.
