  • One arrested, another escaped in SGH bike lifting case

    A wanted bike lifter managed to escape while his accomplice was arrested for lifting a bike from Chokpot in South Garo Hills district.

    A naka was conducted by a special team from Baghmara police station at Ashugre-Deku trijunction following information that one Job who was earlier arrested in several bike lifting cases along with one of his friend Balgra G Momin @ Nasarudin another habitual criminal are going to steal two pulsar motorbike at Chokpot area and is going to deliver it to some unknown person, police said.

    Around 5 am on Saturday, one Bajaj pulsar was seen approaching and the same was signalled to stop by the naka duty party but instead of stopping, the rider and the pillion rider accelerated the bike towards Ashugre side on seeing the police on duty, they said.

    The bike was being chased on a duty vehicle towards Ashugre and just before reaching Ashugre OGC managed to apprehend Balgra G Momin (29) along with the stolen motorbike Pulsar 150 CC bearing Chassis no. MD2DHDHZZUCA12099 & Engine No. DHGBUA93493.

    While the pillion rider namely Job of Gonganggre village managed to escape by jumping from the bike and fled away taking advantage of the thick Jungle, police said.
