NPP working president sentenced to life imprisonment

In a major embarrassment to the National People’s Party (NPP), the District & Session Court, Jowai on Wednesday sentenced NPP Working President of Jaintia Hills Nidamon Chulet to life imprisonment for the murder of Ewanmi Lhuid 14 years back.

Chulet along with Coming @ Koming Rabon and Graceful Phyllei were declared accused in the murder case of Ewanmi Lhuid on February 2008.

According to the judgement passed by the trial court, Phyllei is acquitted from all liabilities of the instant case.

Nidamon Chullet is convicted to life imprisonment with fine amounting of Rs. 50,000/-(Rupees Fifty thousand) only for an offence punishable U/s 302 IPC.

The fine amount if and when realized shall be paid to the immediate relatives of the deceased.

Coming @ Koming Rabon is convicted to imprisonment for 7 years with fine amounting of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand) only for an offence punishable U/s 201 IPC.

The Court ordered before admitting the accused persons in the Prison, they shall be taken for medical examination and Truenat test for COVID-19 case.
