The first ever wet cleaning store perhaps in entire North East Region was opened in West Jaintia Hills District on Monday.

Christened as A & W Laundry Lounge, the store offers Live Wet Cleaning service for customers, which is Eco-Friendly Alternative for Dry Clean laundry store.

The facility is located at Moosalyngkat, Jowai Town.

The Lounge is enterprise by M Andrew Passah and he  is the youngest son of Mr Oriwell Chullai and Mrs Duwankless Passah.

The store was inaugurated jointly by two lady entreprenuers of West Jaintia Hills District namely Padma Shree Trinity Saioo and Sushu Pabe Bakes proprietor Meriba Sumer.

“I chose Jowai because it’s where I come from and I want to promote Jowai and prove that we can do business better and not borrow ideas or franchisees from another laundry company in India,” replied Andrew when on his vision of setting the store in Jowai.

A & W Laundry Lounge will strive to deliver the best quality in terms of cleaning, packing and pick up/drop service as per the present industry ethics offered anywhere in the world at the prices of the local launderer.

A & W pledges to explain every single Indian to the principles without hurting their monthly budgets.

Being the first and the only store probably in Northeast India to introduce ‘Wet Cleaning’ process by using harmless and non-toxic washing products from the United States of America and Germany.

Wet cleaning is the method of cleaning clothes that is usually done with water, often in the presence of a soap or detergent.

No hazardous chemicals are used, hence no air pollution and lower water pollution.

Wet cleaning consumes about 50% less energy than dry cleaning, hence, is energy efficient.

Easy removal of water-based stains; whites look whiter and better soil removal from some garments.

Wet cleaning much cheaper compared to dry cleaning as solvents are used in the latter process, which are more expensive than water.

A wide range of fiber types such as wool, silk, linen, cotton, leather/ suede, wedding gowns and garments decorated with beads can be wet cleaned.

Wet cleaned clothes are free from chemical odor unlike dry cleaned clothes, which can retain strong odor after dry cleaning. Softening agents used give a pleasant smell to the clothes.

Andrew is also the brother of the former chief editor of Myntoilang Cable News Chaphrang Passah.

Andrew is married to Waneroda Laloo the second daughter of Frank Dennis Rynjah and Waila Deborah Laloo and is currently residing in Mission Compound Jowai.

Before 2019 Andrew was working with HSBC (Hongkong Shanghai Banking Corporation) Bangalore in compliance department from July 2005 through to November 2010, and then moved to Eastern Europe in 2011 through to 2019 to work as a student missionary with Calvary Chapel Bible College Europe.
