Nongthymmai SC overturned a streak of defeats to beat Nongrim Hills SC 3-0 in a Shillong Premier League match at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, on the evening of October 31.

Michaelson Kurbah (40’), Ronald Singh Shaikhom (57’), and Istarbor Marngar (59’) were the scorers in Nongthymmai’s first win of the season, ending a run of seven losses in the competition dating back to SPL 2023.

On a chilly evening with Diwali fireworks lighting up the sky around the ground, Nongthymmai built their attack from the left. Michaelson converted a cross to put his team ahead just before halftime.

In the second half, Ronald, two minutes after being denied by the crossbar, received a through ball, went one-on-one with Nongrim Hills goalkeeper Urbanity Makhroh, and scored.

Just two minutes later, Ronald turned provider, racing up the right flank to set up Istarbor for the third goal of the evening.

Nongrim Hills had several attempts throughout the game but failed to threaten Nongthymmai keeper Roni Das, as none of their shots were on target.

It was a disappointing performance for Nongrim Hills, who are in the top half of the table with 4 points. However, this figure is somewhat misleading, as their win came via walkover due to Laitkor SC’s player registration issues in their first match.

The victory for Nongthymmai means all 10 teams have registered at least one win this season, with five clubs tied on 3 points each: Rangdajied United FC, Nangkiew Irat SC, Nongthymmai, Ryntih FC, and Langsning FC.

Nongthymmai will be back in action in the next match on November 4 against Laitkor SC at 5:30 PM.
