SHILLONG: Lone Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) member from North Shillong Adelbert Nongrum has threatened to take up agitation against the state government for its failure to resolve the age-old boundary dispute with Assam.

While raising a supplementary question on the issue in the Assembly here on Monday, Nongrum, who is supporting the NPP-led MDA government, said it is an embarrassment that the long pending issue is yet to be resolved even after many years have passed.

“In another three years, Meghalaya is going to celebrate its 50th year of statehood and I will be the first one to agitate against the state government,” he said while adding that it doesn’t matter even though he is supporting the present government.

On the other hand, the KHNAM legislator suggested the state government to seek the intervention of the Supreme Court for solution to end the issue of boundary dispute.
