No-trust motion tabled against EC in GHADC

SHILLONG: A group of 10 MDCs in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) has submitted a no-confidence motion against the Dipul R Marak-led executive committee for mismanagement of the Council’s fund and failure to pay monthly salaries to the employees.

In a letter to the secretary (legislative) of the GHADC here on Monday, the MDCs said they have decided to bring the NC during the ongoing session of the GHADC on the ground that the EC has indulged in mismanagement of District Council’s fund and sources.

They said the present EC has failed to pay monthly salaries to the employees of the District Council for more than 20 months and long pending bills to the contractors and suppliers.

The other reasons include total failure to protect and preserve land and the properties of District Council, total failure to protect the interest of indigenous people and failure to adopt strategies, programme and policies  to fulfil the mandate of the constitution.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman Mettrinson G Momin has also resigned from the post. He has submitted his resignation letter to the Chairman of the GHADC on Monday.
