    To put in place preventive measures and awareness, to identify and take  more stringent steps to ensure social distancing so  the pandemic of COVID-19 does not spread to West Jaintia Hills District and Meghalaya,  the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai has under section 144 Cr. P.C.  promulgated curfew in the whole District  from midnight of 14th April 2020 up to midnight  of 16thApril, 2020.

    The District Magistrate has also imposed restriction on Assemble or gathering of 5 (tive) or more persons in pubic area and premises beyond the individual households, Operation of all forms of  public  and private vehicles, Operation of  marker and commercial establishments in West Jaintia Hills District.

    Areas to be affected all under the jurisdiction of Thadlaskein C&RD Block, AmlaremC&RD and Laskein C&RD Block.

    The Order is however not applicable to:

    Security Forces.

    Medical Teams on duty,

    Wholesale & Retail Pharmacies,

    Police and Armed Forces,

    Fire & Emergency Service,

    MeECL and Power Grid, Food & Civil Supplies Department, FCI, Jowai Municipal Board,

    Telecom Communication & IT Services, Print and Electronic Media and Government Official Duty.

    Movement of  vehicles carrying essential commodities, and LPG cylinders along the National Highway, Security Forces, medical equipment are also exempted. However, drivers and attendant of the vehicle shall be subject to medical screening as per laid protocol.

    All groceries shop, related to Agriculture, wine shop and Bonded Warehouses which are scheduled to open in West Jaintia Hills District on 15th April, 2020 and Wholesalers on 16th April, 2020 stands cancelled.

    All curfew passes barring essential services and medical emergencies are suspended for the period from midnight of 14th April, 2020 to midnight of 16th April, 2020.
