No more dynamite and poisoning in West Jaintia Hills

The District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills has issued an order under section 144 CrPC to curb the harmful practice and to protect the local aquatic life, flora, fauna and the overall ecological balance in the district.

The order prohibits fishing indulging in or resorting to act of poisoning of water bodies and use of dynamite to cause wide spread/large scale destruction of aquatic life within the District.

In addition, washing of vehicles along the rivers side has also been prohibited.

This order shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force untill further orders.
